The joy of TV advertising By Damian Nicolaou of Lightning Bug viral advertising One of the most overlooked televisual arts is that of advertising. Although people try to avoid the commercial breaks at any cost, and there are many technological methods for doing so, the fact is that often the adverts overshadow the programmes that sandwich them. When people look back on their childhoods, they fondly remember their favourite programmes, and after some thought often more fondly remember the commercials that accompanied them. We all recall those legendary ads, and the slogans and jingles that accompany them. Whether it's the Cadbury's finger of Fudge song, Beans means Heinz or Budweiser's Wassup, if we allow ourselves to we all have to concede that good ads hold a special place in our hearts.
